St. James’ Academy provides free after-school and summer enrichment programs to elementary school children who attend schools in the West Baltimore communities of Harlem Park, Lafayette Square, Sandtown-Winchester and Upton, providing important support to the community.
Our after-school initiative currently counts Harlem Park Elementary School and the Bell Foundation as partners in providing at-risk fourth-graders with critical academic instruction, enrichment activities and community events, and healthy nutrition throughout the schoolyear — resulting in increased score gains in math, literacy and academic self-confidence.
The St. James’ Summer Academy is a five-week summer program providing spiritual enrichment, academic coaching, recreational activities/outdoor play, and field trips to cultural and entertainment venues to more than 50 children in surrounding neighborhoods.
